Putnam City - Public Schools Foundation

The Putnam City Public Schools Foundation would like to announce Putnam City Challenge Day. Using highly interactive and energetic activities with 100 high school students each day, Challenge Day leads teens on a carefully designed exploration of the ways people separate from each other, showing them how to interrupt the process and create connection. The goal of Challenge Day is to increase personal power and self-esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, bullying and all forms of violence.  Two Challenge Day program leaders will facilitate a six-hour program with 100 high school students and 25 adults. Putnam City High School will host Challenge Day on August 27 and 28 and Putnam City West High School will host on August 29 and 30. Pre-program activities will begin in July and post-program activities will continue in the high schools long after the event.  At Putnam City High School 38.32% of students qualify for Free/Reduced Priced Lunch and at Putnam City West High School the number is 50.03%.  Putnam City North has 21.2% students who qualify for Free/Reduced Priced Lunch and they will host Challenge Day two days in fall of 2008.  The cost for the entire program is $12,000.

 The Putnam City Public Schools Foundation is supporting the district in its efforts to provide a safe environment where young people can work together and learn to be good citizens. This project will make a huge impact on our young people and teach them to connect through powerful, often life-changing communication.
