Putnam City Foundation receives honor

On May 21, 2008, the Putnam City Public Schools Foundation received notification that it has been selected as one of four winners of the 2008 Local Education Foundation (LEF) Program Award for the character development program Challenge Day.

David Boren, Founder and Chairman of Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence wrote, "With an increasingly global economy, it is up to communities and organizations such as yours to encourage and enrich the educational opportunities and character development of our students.  We see the school, more than any other institution, holding us together as a society.  The need to support public education has never been greater."

Putnam City Public Schools Foundation will be formally recognized at the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Fall Forum on Thursday, October 23, 2008.  In addition to a plaque, the Foundation will receive a $1,000 check at the luncheon.

Information about the character development program Challenge Day will be posted on the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence website at www.ofe.org.  Additionally, a writeup and video about Challenge Day can be found on this website under "Programs".  For more information, please contact the Putnam City Foundation office at 405-495-5200 ext. 1205.
