The Putnam City Public Schools Foundation sponsors an annual
reception to honor Putnam City’s Teacher of the Year. This event is
held to recognize each school’s Teacher of the Year, and to announce
the District Teacher of the Year.
Each school’s Teacher of
the Year is chosen by the school’s teaching staff. The 27 honorees are
also nominees for Putnam City Schools District Teacher of the Year.
To
choose the district's top teacher, the district’s professional
development committee, including teachers, parents and administrators,
combs through teacher portfolios to make a selection. To qualify for
the district award, applicants must be exceptionally skillful and
dedicated classroom teachers, demonstrate vigorous, creative and
imaginative teaching on a day-to-day basis, and have the high esteem of
students, parents and co-workers. They must also be active in their
communities.
The Teacher of the Year reception is free and open to the public. For more information about this or other programs sponsored by the Putnam City Foundation, please call 405-495-5200 ext. 1205 or email dfloresca@putnamcityschools.org.
